For the first ten years of ministry, I struggled and strained
to be of help to those who came to me seeking advice for life's greatest
problems. Even from my seminary studies, I found I could draw on
nothing that really helped me to deal with the majority of my members'
problems. "Surely God has some answers," I continued to
think.
One day in 1991, God brought a man into my life who has become my
friend, my brother and my mentor--especially in Christian counseling.
Beginning with Dr. Joe Allbright's "Reclaiming the Ground,"
the simplistic and yet the depth of counseling helps in this book will
enable every Christian to help one another and set the captives free.
God has shown Dr. Allbright the truth and the application of His
Word--that truly does liberate the bruised, the wounded, the guilty and
the hurting. I stand gladly in the pulpit and proclaim week after
